James took the Harvard entrance exam on the advice of his father and won the entrance scholarship despite any real preparation for the exam.   James Tobin discussed his book, "Ernie Pyle's War: America's Eyewitness to World War II," published Alfred A. Knopf. His book examines war correpsondent Ernie Pyle's life and work and the contradictory feelings of depression and exhiliration over the war action. The book also profiles Pyle's personal life and his death on the beaches of Okinawa.
